Karin is a very nice lady and she is really kind and really helpful. She is full of bright ideas and good sportsmen ship. She always included people in all her games .

She loves to ski and hike and she loves to bike around the mountains. Karin has the rhythm in her soul cause she moves to the music. She liked to do Jump Jam. Her favorite food is chocolate, sausages sandwiches and Swiss cheese. She loved our school especially the kids.

She has gorgeous blond hair and tanned white skin and she is really slim and she has beautiful blue eyes. Karin always wears purple clothes and always wears jeans with her scarf around her neck and she always has a smile on her face.

Twilight Fiesta

On Friday night there was our school "Twilight Fiesta". There was lots of stuff there. Some of the stalls and games were:

baking stalls, lolly stall, pizza stall, white elepahant stall, used clothing stall, christmas decorations stall, vegetable stall drinks stall, fish sandwiches, hot chips, sausage sizzle, baked potatoes, Spanish food and lots of others.

There were many activities for kids and adults to do like, little hot rods, plate throwing, face painting, jump jam, bouncy castle, bikes, raffles and lots more things.

St Vincent Room Kids picked bunches of lavender from the big bush outside our room, as a fund raiser for the Twilight Fiesta. Our selling point was... Lavender helps you to sleep ( a bunch under the pillow will help you sleep all night!) and it keeps away the moths ( a bunch in your wardrobe keeps the moths out of your clothes). We hope it works! Karin lay on the carpet with the St v. Kids!! Can you spot her?

At the fiesta, Dylan and I went on the go carts. I went on the go carts by myself once and that cost $5, but the rest of the rides I went with Dylan. Dylan was crashing into every one. I was pushing the cone over, with my hands as I went by.

I really liked the Fiesta because there was heaps of things to do. Noah

At the fiesta my mum and dad helped to do cooking. My dad helped with the juicies, my mum helped with the nachos, it was beans which were real good. It had no vegetables in it at all. Mum and dad gave me money to spend. Mum gave me 5 dollars and dad gave me 2 dollars so I really had over $20. I bought STUFF!

Cricket Begins. Term 4

Cricket has begun at Auckland Point School. We have 2 coaches who come on Thursdays and help us learn skills we need to play cricket.

We have catching, batting and fielding practice on the field. Karin came out to watch us.

In Switzerland they don't play cricket. She found it rather confusing and asked lots of questions.

HEAT FROM THE SUN

Today we had some special visitors, they were Peter and Des. They are very interested in science. Des is a science teacher and Peter is an engineer.

They had a solar disc, that is like a sky dish, that has tin foil on it. Peter and Des demonstrated how to cook things on a solar disc. They even made paper burn by holding it in front of the disc. The paper smoked and then it burst into flames.

The disc used the sun to cook the pikelets. It was amazing.

Matt helped mix the pikelets and then the men put them into a pan. The pan was in front of the solar disc.

The pikelets were different because they had the secret ingredient, it was the solar energy! It was cool. We all got to try one.

Peter showed us a little plastic tug....but the really cool thing was, there was an electric motor on the boat and a solar panel on it’s roof and we put it in the swimming pool. The tug went around the green pool. When Peter put Samantha’s hat over the solar panel...it stopped!

We learnt lots of new words, like expand, parabolic and vaporize.

It was cool having 2 visitors in our class room and we learnt heaps of stuff about the solar energy.

ABLE TASMAN WALK

As the van pulled up out side of my house ,“Are you ready YET!” Mum

shouted, “Yes I am mum’, I replied, going out the door and hopping into the van. On the way through Motueka we saw an alien in a phone box with the space ship by the side of the phone box.

We finally got to Kaiteriteri,and the boats pulled up. I didn’t know which boat we were going on but it was the Wilson's boat. It was so choppy that I almost fell off the side of the hand rails. The waves were up to the top of the boat. I got a little bit sea sick but I was okay. I was sitting by Eve on the boat. The boat stopped, “Why did the boat stop Eve?” I said.

“There is sand in the motor Jack " she told me. “

We went past a rock that looked like a mushroom, so we nicknamed it "mushroom bushroom". We all thought it was a pretty good name. We saw another one that looked like a apple split in half and its name is Split apple rock.

Then we went past a rocky kind of beach and we saw some seals camouflaged on the rocks, and the boat went slowly round it.

We pulled up on a beach that is called Torrent Bay and we were given two walk guides. They were both from the Wilson’s boat, one was named Dave and I can't remember what the other mans name was. Then we started walking around the the Abel Tasman Track all the way to Bark Bay. It took an hour and a half to get there. We all had lunch. We saw a tree from Australia that has killed an elephant because it has poisonous leaves.

The boat came to pick us up at Bark Bay and it was raining on the way back to Kaiteriteri Beach.

It was such a cool trip and I got to bring my mums old camera.

Meet Karin from Switzerland

Karin from Switzerland

Karin is very beautiful, she has blonde hair and blue eyes and she comes from Davos in Switzerland. She is spending 3 weeks at our school and this week she is with the St Vincent Room Kids.

When Karin and Beat went kayaking around OKiwi Bay. Karin was in the front, doing all the steering and Beat was in the back. He was meant to be the muscle power but when Karin turned around Beat was just sitting there, doing nothing! Beat was a passenger so the next day Karin had sore arms from all the paddling she had to do.

In Switzerland Karin likes to run, hike,kayak,ski and dance.

We all love her in our class.She is very helpful to us.

St.Vincents new visitor

Our class has a new visitor, his name is Beat. His name sounds like “bay art”, that's how we say it. His full name is Beat Berther . He landed in New Zealand on October the 5th, same day as his friend. He lives in Chur and he is a teacher who teaches 11 to 13 year old students. He flew down from Switzerland. Beat brought a friend, her name is Karin Baumgartner.

He is staying in our class for three weeks, he loves to travel all around the world. Beat also loves New Zealand.

He loves to play tennis and also loves to go skiing and he can speak five languages, they are Swiss German, French, Italian, Spanish and very very good English. We can understand him real good.

He knows our friend Regula, who taught in our room last year.

Beat is 4o and his favourite food is chocolate, pasta, pizza and fish like different kinds of seafood, snapper, flounder and tuna.

Beat has a mum, a dad, a brother and a sister and they both are married. His family lives among the hills and mountains in Chur.

In Switzerland in the winter, the mountains are white and in the summer it is really beautiful and green . The lakes and the rivers are clear and if you want to, you can drink the water. In Switzerland they have old cathedals, castles and houses.

He is a really nice man and I hope he stays for ever. He’s funny too.
